Configuration – Holder

Overview

This section deals in detail with the definition of the holders and the positioning of samples and references in them. This ‘Holder’ tab can be accessed by clicking on the ‘Holder’ icon.

Holder

Information related to holders that can be inserted into the instrument is available under Holder in the first sub-window.

Holder selection is done by highlighting the corresponding holder from the drop-down menu. Width and length of the selected holder is then displayed. To create or modify the holder parameters (name, width, length, block number, coordinates of each block, shape, size), click on ‘Export’. This action generates a « .csv » file stored in

 C:\Cameca SX Shared\data

To edit the .csv file, double click on it, modify and save it.

To load a saved file from C:\Cameca SX Shared\data, click on ‘Import’. Removal of a specific holder is possible by clicking on ‘Delete’.

Reference Position

A ‘Reference Position’, of a set of X, Y and Z coordinates, is assigned to every Holder. Moreover, the geometric configuration of a holder and relevant metrics associated to this configuration are displayed as read-only information under the Block Features sub-window.

Block Features

In the ‘Block Selection’ sub-window information on Blocks can be edited, and a Name can be assigned to a specific block.

To load a block, click on ‘Block List’ and highlight the corresponding block among the list available from the database. A block can be deleted at any time by selecting it and clicking on the trash icon, or by simply clicking on ‘Delete’ after having loaded it.

Althrough a new block can be created by clicking on ‘New’, the shape of the block fitting a chosen holder has to be predefined. A window entitled Available Block Type opens and contains the types of blocks compatible (circle, rectangle, etc.) and their dimensions. Double-clicking on the highlighted block will load it, and a block name is automatically generated and numerically incremented.

To modify block parameters (name, geometry, width, height…), click on ‘Export’ after having loaded the corresponding block from the list. This action generates a .csv file stored in

 C:\Cameca SX Shared\data

This file can be edited and saved. If a block is to be recalled or loaded from C:\Cameca SX Shared\data, it is readily possible by clicking on ‘Import’.
