SX – Control

SX-Control – Overview

Reading Duration 2min

The Control module may be opened from the SX-Control button in the SX-AppBar

SX-Control – Vaccum

Reading Duration 6min

The upper left panel of the SX-Control module grants access to the vacuum and beam conditions of the instrument. In the ‘Vacuum’ subpanel, vacuum levels and status indicators are shown for the electron gun chamber (high vacuum gauge and ion pump readings), the WDS spectrometer volume, the sample chamber, as well as the sample exchange, chamber or airlock.

SX-Control – Beam

Reading Duration 18min

The second panel of the SX-Control module is dedicated to the beam conditions.

SX-Control – Source

Reading Duration 1min

This tab is only dedicated to the SX system including the Field Emission Gun (FEG).

SX-Control – SEM

Reading Duration 10min

Once the beam setup parameters are properly defined and the vacuum levels are good enough to start an analysis, aspects related to the Scanning Electron Microscope as well as the Wavelength Dispersive Spectrometers (WDS) panel need to be considered. In this section, users will have control of the parameters inherent to the video signals coming through the Video Channels and displayed on the RTM.

SX-Control – SEM More

Reading Duration 6min

A few advanced settings are available for a more in-depth treatment of the images acquired during an EPMA experiment. These settings are accessible under the SEM More menu.

SX-Control – Camera-SEM

Reading Duration 8min

The upper right panel of the SX-Control module is the Camera panel and controls parameters linked to the optical light microscope. This latter can be operated using transmitted or reflected light, in normal or polarized mode, and at various magnifications and Z focus settings.

SX-Control – WDS & Spectro

Reading Duration 45min

This section gathers all the functions and information dedicated to the Wavelenght Dispersive Spectroscopy (WDS) settings and analysis parameters.

SX-Control – WDS panel

Reading Duration 2min

The fourth menu of the SX Control module controls the spectrometry part of the instrument (definition of the WDS parameters).

SX-Control – Fast Acquisition

Reading Duration 11min

The Fast Acquisition frame (WDS #3) quickly gathers some measurements with the already-optimized preset values for the parameters discussed in the previous section. The four main functionalities that will be described in this Fast Acquisition frame are WDS Spectrum, Profiles, Images, and Quanti.

SX-Control – Multipurpose

Reading Duration 28min

The last panel available in the SX Control menu is the last one, and has been partially covered in the other sections of the SX Control. This panel serves multiple purposes for the user.
